We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Girls’
Hygiene Support Group in Japan, which has raised $1,200 to purchase sanitary
supplies for our older girls at Galilee Primary School and Waddington High
School. Lack of access to clean sanitary
supplies and private restroom facilities is a serious barrier to education for
girls in the developing world. In fact,
Water Aid reports that 53%
of girls in Nairobi miss a day or more of school every two months due to their
menses. Our friends in Japan have
generously donated funds to provide for the sanitary needs of our girls over
the last few years. Fanuel (the school
director) has confirmed that the availability of sanitary supplies over that
time period has greatly decreased school absences among the older girls at
GPS/WHS. Thanks to the Girls’ Hygiene
Support Group for their continued attention to this important issue!
