iGive Challenge until November 12th

Hi Everyone!

Here is a special challenge that iGive is running until November 12th that will help Plant-a-Book International help our kids!  If you have never used iGive before -- this is for you!  PLEASE try to think of SOMETHING to purchase through the iGive link (Christmas is coming and MANY of our favorite stores are listed!).  PAB will receive $5 for every new iGive user!!!  Pass the word to your friends and family, too, and tell them to list Plant-a-Book International as their charity of choice.  Here is how it works:

Donation Challenge - Each New Active Member Means $5+ for Plant-a-Book International

Through November 12, 2013, Plant-a-Book International earns an extra $5 for new supporters at iGive who make at least one purchase. That's in addition to the normal donation amount. There's never been a better time to help the children of Galilee Primary School, Waddington High School and Holly House children's homes, at no cost to you.

Three important details -

1. Over 1,350 stores participating. Purchases at Amazon count for a donation,
but not towards the new member bonus.
2. New iGive members only (never joined before) and you must make a purchase by 11/12/13.
3. You must use our special link we've provided below to join. And you must use iGive to visit the store (the Button, the iPhone / iPad apps, or links on the iGive site). Returns don't count.

Get the word out today. Donation Challenge ends 11/12/13.  Please tell your friends and family, too.

The holidays are around the corner. Every purchase supporters make can help Plant-a-Book International. They'll feel good, and they'll do good.

Buy a Brick Campaign Update

We are making slow but steady progress toward our fundraising goal for the new Galilee Primary School classrooms.  So far we have raised $2423.50 toward the second classroom, leaving us with $3276.50 more to raise.

YOU can help make this dream a reality. The walls and roofs of the current primary school classrooms consist of sheet metal with rough wood pole supports, and one wall in each room is half sheet metal and half chicken wire to allow for airflow and a little light. The state of deterioration is very evident. The roofs are leaking, causing flooding during the rainy season. The children need and deserve a healthy and appropriate learning environment. Imagine clean, dry classrooms for these children to learn in -- such a basic need, yet out of reach without your help.

Here are things you can do to help our children:

1.   Use Goodsearch.  Each time you need to do research on the internet, please use www.goodsearch.com.   This doesn't cost you a dime, but Plant-a-Book International will receive funds from your participation!  In the box labeled "Who do you Goodsearch for?" simply type in:  Plant-a-Book.  Then search away!

2.  Shopping on line is convenient, but with one small step your shopping can help others, too!  And it's easy!  Simply go to www.igive.com. Select Plant-a-Book to receive a percentage of your purchase at no cost to you!

3.  Tell others about Plant-a-Book International and ask them to make a small donation.

4.  Round up your latte order and put the change in a little change purse -- at the end of the month that change could add up to a couple extra dollars to donate.

5.  Add up your change that ends up on your dresser and donate it.  Just think of what we could accomplish if everyone did that each month!

6.  Sell your items on eBay and select Plant-a-Book International as the registered nonprofit to receive a percentage of the proceeds of your sale!

7.  Add our tag lines below to your signature on your emails -- this is an easy way to spread the word about our work:

8.  Donate Now!  Just click the button below ~ any amount is appreciated and will go along way in helping our Galilee children!

Children Needing Sponsors

If you visit the Plant-a-Book International website, you will see the faces of children filled with hope -- hope that they will be sponsored!  For only $12.50, $20, or $30 per month, you can make a tremendous difference in the life of a child.  Please visit our site and consider how you can help one of these kids.

....and so many more!  These kids long for a letter from someone who
cares, someone who will encourage them as they strive for an education.  Could it be you?

The classrooms serving the Galilee Primary School students were intended to be temporary. As primitive as they are, they have actually served our kids for many years now.  The walls and roof consist of sheet metal with rough wood pole supports, and one wall in each room is half sheet metal and half chicken wire to allow for airflow and a little light. The state of deterioration is very evident. The roofs are leaking, causing flooding during the rainy season. The children need and deserve a healthy and appropriate learning environment.

We would like to replace the classrooms with actual classroom buildings.  Each classroom costs $5737 to build. We would like to build six ground floor classrooms to begin and then eventually add second floor classrooms to those. This is the style of classroom that will replace the sheet metal and chicken wire ones:

Thanks to donations received through KKIN UK and Plant-a-Book International we have completely paid for one classroom to be constructed and are on our way to funding a second room!  Can you join us in this campaign? Any donation amount is welcome and will go a long way to creating adequate classrooms so our students can get the most from their education.

Please make your donation through the PayPal button on this site or write to info@plantabook.org.

Thanks for making a difference!
