Meet Ann!  Ann is 12 years old and in standard 7.  Her birthday is August 11.  Ann's father tries to find work as a casual laborer and her mother is unemployed.  Due to the extreme poverty of this family, they could not properly care for Ann and therefore she came to live at Holly House where she could have food, shelter and an education.  Ann enjoys reading story books.  Her best subjects are math and science and she dreams of being a doctor someday. HH sponsorship is $30/mo for full sponsorship or $15 for co-sponsorship.  Can you be Ann's sponsor and friend?  Please email info@plantabook.org for more information.

Help Us Complete Two Classrooms

The students at Waddington High School in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya are fortunate in that they are able to receive a secondary school education. This is a dream come true for students surrounded by the extreme poverty of the slums. The Hagood Memorial Library was established at the school several years ago, but over the years it has become the one and only place for the teachers to use as a staff room, impacting the availability to the students.

We now want to finish two classrooms at WHS -- one will be used for a staff room so the library can return to its original purpose and be easily accessible by the students. The other room will be used as a computer lab.
Won't you help make these rooms a reality for our students by making a donation of any amount to this cause? We have already raised $2534 toward the total $2700 needed to complete the two rooms, so only have $166 to go! Please join us in making a difference!

Form 3 Literature Books Needed

Due to some personal challenges in recent months, I've fallen behind in updating our blog here, but am looking forward to consistently posting once again!  Second term at Galilee Primary School and Waddington High School is underway and the students are studying hard.

Our form 3 students are still in need of more literature books -- required reading for them this school year.  Here is the list of books they need:

Mstahiki Meya - Vide Muwa Publisher  $5.00
Damu Nyeusi - Moran Publishers $6.50
The Whale Rider - Longman Publisher $6.50
When the Sun Goes Down - Longhorn Publisher $5.00

If you would like to purchase one or several of these books for a student, please make your donation to our link on the right side of our page here, and follow up with an email to info@plantabook.org.
Thanks for any help you can provide to these needy students.

Best regards,
Brenda
