Friday's Featured Children - Loves to Read!

Meet Martin!
Martin lives at Holly House and attends WHS in form 1.  He is 16 and his birthday is November 11.  Martin's father is a farmer and the family is so poor that it became necessary for Martin to move into HH to continue his high school education.  He scored 379 on the KCPE exam, a very good score.  Martin enjoys reading books and playing football.  He would like to be a doctor.  Can you reach out to help Martin by becoming his sponsor or cosponsor?

Visit www.plantabook.org's Child Sponsorship - HH page for more information.

Girl Scouts Help Galilee!

Lisa is one of our sponsors who also leads Girl Scout Troop #235 in Akron, Ohio.  They recently raised $330 in order to purchase items for some of our Galilee children!
Balls, jump ropes and packs of rulers were provided for the children's use!
Eight needy unsponsored boys were the recipients of new uniforms.

New uniforms were also provided to eight unsponsored needy girls.
Here is one little boy who received a new uniform.  Something as simple as a new pair of shorts and a shirt makes a world of difference to the children.

Shanita was a recipient of a new uniform.  She is one of our children who also needs a sponsor.
Could it be you?
The Girl Scout Troop also provided mosquito nets, school shoes, washbowls and washcloths to a couple of children.  We thank these wonderful girls from the bottom of our hearts for the difference they made for so many other children!

Friday's Featured Child - A Young Scientist

Meet Austine!
With a birthday on August 21, 10 year old Austine is in standard 4.  His best school subject is Science and he wants to be a pilot.  For fun he enjoys reading cartoon magazines. Austine's father is a peasant farmer who does not live with the family.  He lives with his brother and mother who struggles to feed her children.  He helps her by washing utensils.  We're glad that Austine can attend Galilee Primary School, but he would be helped by the gift of sponsorship -- could it be you?

The boys at Galilee Primary School are very dear and treasure the gift of sponsorship.  Please visit our child sponsorship pages at www.plantabook.org and select a child to sponsor today!

What We Do for Kenyan High School Students

One of our Galilee Primary/Waddington High School supporters passed on this interesting article about how the lack of school fees is prohibiting many Kenyan students from attending high school, despite the fact funds are supposed to be allocated for their education:  http://www.nation.co.ke

Fanuel Okwaro, our school director, comments:

"That is the situation on ground.  At Lorna Waddington High School we have tried our best and gave children in this category a chance to get high school education.we have many kids with marks ranging from 300-414. We are hoping that sponsors will come forward to help us educate these kids. Are you willing to offer a hand? Please visit us at www.nairobikids.org."

There are many high school students available for sponsorship -- please help us be part of the solution and sponsor a student!

Friday's Featured Child - Make Yvonne's Birthday Special

Meet Yvonne!  Yvonne's birthday is March 18 and what better birthday present than the gift of a sponsor!  Could it be you?
Yvonne is in standard 2 and loves to sing.  Yvonne's best subject is social studies and Christian Religious Education.  Someday she would like to be a teacher.  Yvonne lives with her two brothers, mother and sickly father.  Her mom tries to earn some money doing menial jobs.  At home she helps by washing utensils.  Can you help Yvonne by becoming her sponsor?   As a sponsor you will receive an annual photo, three letters each year, regular updates on your child's school progress, the opportunity to write to your child as often as you wish, and the joy of helping a child in desperate need.  Please email info@nairobikids.org for more information.

Update March 18:  Happy Birthday to Yvonne who has now been sponsored!  Please visit our Child Sponsorship pages at www.plantabook.org for more dear children in need of a sponsor.  For as little as $25/YEAR you can make an incredible difference in the life of a child!
